"I lied to everybody, not because I had to or because I wanted to. The problem was, I lied to myself more than anyone else. And to be honest (for once), I liked it that way."Rocky would have been happy to spend her college days getting high, going clubbing, and seducing unsuspecting classmates. But her sophomore year she found herself unwillingly in love with a boy who played very hard to get. She fights constantly between the natural urge to leave and the frightening need to stay. But it is a tug of war, not a balance. She will eventually loose.
Rocky is a 22 year old college student on the east coast. A painful childhood lead to a near-phobic fear of marriage and tradition. The problem is that she keeps these memories buried so deeply that she is largely unaware of their impact, it leads her to come across as angry and distant.
Because she won't let us in, there are blind spots in her story. In order to see Rocky for who she truly is- and how she came to be this way- two other characters reveal bits and pieces through their memories of her.
